multiple-media.com goes carboneutral

In order to do its share to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG), multiple-media.com has become a “carboneutral” company. On October 1st, the Montreal Web agency received its certification from a recognized independent organism, confirming that it invests in sustainable development projects designed to compensate for the GHGs generated in the context of its activities.

“Interactive agencies like ours actually do a lot to reduce GHG emissions, as the growth of online activities supports, among other things, reductions in terms of transportation and paper consumption,” says president of multiple-media.com Renato Cudicio. “However, we are also aware that other factors–such as heating, air-conditioning, our own transportation, and the life cycle of the servers and the energy they consume–must also be taken into consideration.”

“Like increasing numbers of people, we are very concerned with the current situation. We therefore decided to examine how we could reduce our carbon emissions and find an appropriate way to compensate for those we cannot eliminate.”

Through offset credits purchased from Planetair, an independent and recognized not-for-profit company, multiple-media.com supports various projects, such as mini-hydroelectric power plants in Indonesia, wind turbines in Madagascar or in India, or improved stoves in Kampuchea. Each project is evaluated on stringent criteria which attest that it actually does help reduce GDG emissions and therefore contributes to sustainable development.

This process the agency undertook was accompanied with a complete revamping of its website, since multiple-media.com decided to do for itself what it does for so many other companies. Its Web design, content, and information architecture has been re-examined, reconsidered, and rebuilt from the bottom up. The result is a clearer, more comprehensive service offer that is much closer to multiplemedia.com’s reality, a reality which evolves rather quickly, at the rythm of its’ clients needs.
