World Cup Speed Skating: Launch of a Website Created to Support Canadian Speed Skating Clubs across the Country

Again this year, thanks to the support of Intact Insurance, Canadian long and short track speed skaters will compete not only for their team but also for the benefit of speed skating clubs from one ocean to another.

Acknowledging the key role that speed skating clubs play in the development of young skaters across the country, Intact Insurance will hand out $1000 in cash and prizes to a local speed skating club every time a member of the national team earns a podium during this season.

Thanks to this initiative, a total of $57,000 went to Canadian speed skating clubs last year.

On October 21, Intact Insurance launched PodiumTracker.ca, a Website posting the competition schedule and race results for the 2011/ 2012 World Cup.

At the end of the season, Intact Insurance will send a member of Canada’s Speed Skating team to five lucky clubs across the country for a fun day of skating, autographs, smiles and high-fives.

Intact has sponsored the national short track and long track speed skating teams since 2006. As the Website says, “Why do clubs need our support? We know how difficult it is to have the financial resources and the support of coaches, volunteers and families. Whether for ice time, safety equipment, recruitment support or simple things like skates or whistles, we provide funds and the club President decides where it can best be put to use.”

Again this year, PodiumTracker.ca was developed by multiplemedia.
